TIPS for Open Top Container Loading.

• 1Cargo height limit must be confirmed before booking; over-height goods require vessel approval in advance.
• 2Cargo must be firmly lashed and secured inside the container to prevent shifting in transit.
• 3Waterproof tarpaulin must be fully covered and tightly fastened to protect from rain and seawater splash.
• 4Arrange crane lifting plan for top loading; protect container frame and corner castings during hoisting.
• 5Check container condition, tarpaulin and lashing points thoroughly before gate-in and loading.
• 6Submit accurate cargo dimensions and gross weight for VGM declaration; overweight cargo is prohibited.
• 7Sharp edges of goods must be padded to avoid tearing tarpaulin or damaging the container.
• 8Over-height cargo must not exceed vessel deck stowage stack height limit.
• 9Notify destination agent in advance of special unloading equipment required at discharge port.
